Re: DSLR vs dedicated microscope camera ?

To echo other posts her it depends on your system and your goals. It's hard to beat a used dslr for the money (ie canon rebel t7 for around 300 usd), though a mirrorless camera is more ideal for microscopy in some ways and often easier to adapt on too.

Re: Blue ''aura'' on video

I ended up settling with the hybrid eyepiece approach when I set up my own Zeiss universal. It seemed to give results at least as good as afocal but with a simpler and cheaper setup. That said the achromats it was locked into using for epi DIC put a cap on color correction anyway so my experience ca...

I just set one up, though I might be making it sound a bit easier than it was. https://i.imgur.com/s6vzsaz.png This is the scope I took it off of. It was still kind of expensive for a misaligned generic stereo but worth it. https://i.imgur.com/TjKV9jZ.png The actual trinocular port fits perfectly, t...

Re: Zeiss camera adapter d30 426126

While zeiss infinity photo adapters don't need to do significant corrections and thus shpuld be OK on that level I have had no luck adapting them to other systems. If you want a trinocular option on the 4045 you can get one of the trinocular Chinese copies and use the camera port from it. They are c...

Re: Blue ''aura'' on video

The LED isn't helping, since it will have a spike in blue emission which makes the blue being out of focus more obvious. Putting the bare sensor in front of the eyepiece is still using it out of spec though--the eyepiece wants to produce an image focused at infinity, not a focused image. There are w...

You want top dollar and you're not a community member, not sure what outcome you're expecting. Even if someone wanted it at that price why would they trust you outside of a platform with some buyer protection? Just put it on eBay.

Re: Blue ''aura'' on video

That's chromatic aberration--it's not just blue, it's red on the opposite side. Zeiss eyepieces do a lot of corrections to the objective's image, more than any other major maker of that era. Going direct to camera will never work that well. On top of that the intermediate image is inside the eyepiec...

Re: What is the magnification?

I wouldn't bet on it. Eyepieces are designed to take an intermediate focused image and project it to infinity. Stacking two is going to involve pushing at least one of them well out of spec. Not sure how you'd measure it except comparatively with an eyepiece of known mag and field number.

No amount of additional cleaning gets rid of them all, it just creates different spots.
How are you cleaning them? It is easy to end up just pushing duat or oil around on the surface.

Re: Attaching Nikon DSLR to Amscope t340b

It is one of those 'eh, probably good enough' solutions. It's used across a range of unrelated systems. It's really unclear which of these systems even have eyepiece corrections, and if they do whether the eyepieces they're sold with necessarily match. Amscope support sure doesn't know. Afocal might...

I think you have written 'objectives' in a few spots where you meant 'eyepieces.'

Amscope sells a simple 2x adapter for dslrs, and the same one is available from other sellers on eBay (marked ndpl-1(2x)). It is OK.

Re: Where to find these instant LED replacements?

Color looks pretty different at micro scale anyway. I've used neutral white XM-L2s in gem microscopes which have a CRI around 80 and the viewing experience with them is great. Still, I am pondering one of these 2x2 squares since one could almost certainly get away with the larger size in the much le...

Yes I would very much like to know how the BS 3090 is performing as I have been considering a used Olympus szx16 vs a new BS3090. Your reviews tend to be quite detailed and informative. Perhaps consider one of the infinity optiphot illuminators. The bottom dovetail is the smaller labophot one and needa annoying shimming to fit just right in an eclipae, but the top dovetail accepts eclipse sized heads. They look like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/323674829900 Usually with some diggi...

Light from the periphery of a larger emitter tends not to make it to the subject--it ends up scattering off. That said one of these 2x2s might be fine and I'm kins of curious to try one.

Re: Where to find these instant LED replacements?

This is a good point. I've set up a couple of stereo microscopes with cree XM-L2 LEDs, and even only running at ~6w they do warm up the chonk of aluminum I generally use as a heat sink. That said it may not be impossible to overcome with a heat sink on the back.

Yeah, 0.5x is not really what's called for on this sensor and going direct onto it should give a nicely sized image.
That is an impressively large field for a 0.5x adapter to project though.

Re: [BH2] Can I add transmitted light DIC capabilities to a UMA-DIC microscope

They're very different systems. It might be possible to make it work, but the BH2-UMA only works with infinity objectives, and seems particularky optimized specifically for the infinity Splan and Mplan objectives. Nothing in that series is corrected for cover glass. You could probably put on modern ...

Re: Mirrorless camera and adapter combination?

If it were my system I would take the c mount adapter off, since its inner diameter will be smaller than your camera's sensor. This does make for harder adapting and will require some measurements and buying parts or having them 3d printed. The objectives may be rated for 20mm but it likely won't be...

Re: Nikon Live view vs actual picture

I suspect vibration, though the way you have it attached is also going to push the optics out of spec and give suboptimal performance. For an Olympus infinity head an aps-c camera can be hooked up directly to the head with a 3d print and a couple adapters. Not all olympus objectives will cover that ...
