That is great news Fan! Thank you for testing. I believe you will find that the bubbles dissipate if you let the solution set undisturbed. As far as the mix, I will be using 1% or less. A friend of mine picked up this B&L at Goodwill for $2.99!
It operates like a stereozoom but with a compound microscope range of magnification!
(I was disappointed to see they aren't worth much on Ebay though.)

I have read of professionals that clean their objectives only annually. Amateurs over clean, clean improperly and/or often damage optics.

I would have called it clear before you mentioned a normally yellow effect with starch. :-) I am having no luck with mixing the powder and water. Tried it 2 ways; just dumped the water on top of the powder as with a white sauce and slowly introduced the powder to the liquid as with a roux. Both ways...

Glad you started this thread charlie g. I didn't realize so little methyl cellulose was needed! Since I have a pound in powder form, I will send a bit in an envelope if anyone needs some.
