Containets
I am looking for clear containers to keep sand size particles in for viewing. I have some 60mm petri dishes but would prefer a secure lid. I have considered coin containers but I would also like something a bit deeper for larger specimens. Any suggestions? 25 to 50mm dia about. Not critical. Using a...

Re: Focus stacking
Yes, lighting was on my mind too. Thanks for the suggestions. So many variables to play with. One issue I have is the image creeps sideways on the monitor. It has to be a mis alignment of a prism or what ever they use to split the image. I use the align image option but that could also reduce result...

Focus stacking
Brand new to this. Open to feedback. A LOT to learn still.
Epidote. FOV 5mm across.
5mp cam.
Picolay
Edited post processing. W10 VIEWER.
Light. LED 2700K (because it's what I had)
Comment: Found Picolay very easy and great for a beginner to try out (me).

Re: Trinoccular lens
I have purchased a 1/2 CMOS camera and mounted it to try while I wait to get a reducing lens adapter. Light is my biggest issue. Optically, the subject is well lit but via the camera very dark. I am hoping the lens will help this problem.

Trinoccular lens
Basic question. I have a stereo trinoccular. It came with an adjustable adapter with no lens in it. The camera I want to attach is a 1/2 CMOS. I understand I need a 1/2 reducing lens. If I do t use a lens and just attach the camera to the adapter I have, what will be the results?

Re: Focus distance
I want to view micro minerals. As they are often in cavities, I need a longer WD than a standard compound set up. I saw some attractive objectives online but I don't have 5 k to spare. I use the stereo to locate subjects but want higher mag to view well. I was hoping to image as well using focus sta...

Re: Focus distance
Thanks once again. I am learning a lot I can't find elsewhere. Much appreciated. I was thinking compound would be the go but was concerned with the working distance. Sometimes I look into small cavities. Ill check out your suggestion for long wd objectives.

I have a 90x zoom stereo but sometimes want more mag. It has 10x wf eye peices. What options do I have? I need to allow for not being able to get the lens closer than 15mm to the subject. Can i replace the eye prices with 20x or 30x? If I get a compound scope, can I run 10x objective with 30x eyes o...

Re: Cameras
Thanks again. I am getting an understanding now. To my understanding, effective pixels is true pixels but I could be wrong on that. The price of $56 is what attracted me to that model. They are all over priced in as they are just specialised web cams.

Re: Cameras
Possibly a bit of an ask but does something like this sound okay? It seems to come with a cctv lens as an accessory. Instead from what you say, I would need a 1/3 reducing lens. 14MP Digital C-mount Industry Camera HD Microscope Video Recorder TV USB DVR Lab Features: High quality, high resolution, ...

Re: Cameras
Thanks. That's a great start. So if I get a 1/3 cmos then I just get a 1/3 reducing lens? I am totally new. I am finding some beautiful things at lower mag and would love to capture them.

Just bought a szm zoomable stereo microscope with trinoccular port. Just for home hobby use. I want to fit a usb compatible camera. Many out there but little info on what will work. Do I need an adapter? It comes with a C mount adapter. Do I need one with a lens? I am thinking 5 Mp is sufficient but...
