Re: Nikon plan 1x stereo Objective
That is an option! That is a clone of the SMZ18 as I recall. Do you know what the thread size is?apochronaut wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 11:19 amWhy not try the 1X planapo that they use one the BS- 3090. It's a Nikon clone. The last price I saw on that was in the 300.00's but that was back when I bought mine.

Motic 60x/0.85 plan objective
I have 2 of these. I purchased them sometime ago when comparing 60x objectives. It is MOTIC branded and equivalent to the Amscope objective priced at about $200. Amscope has several versions of a 60x/0.85 plan 160 TL. I'm asking $50 each. $10 shipping. PM if interested. https://imagizer.imageshack.c...

The reason I have multiple copies relates to a house fire I had some years ago. Insurance paid to replace all of my books although some were recoverable.

"Fresh Water Biology" by Ward and Whipple is a beautiful book. I had the opportunity to pick up 2 copies a few years ago. I also like "Freshwater Invertebrates" by Pennak.

Very Nice! As you mentioned if they serve "your" purpose than that is all you need! One of my favorite stereoscopes is a B&L Stereozoom 7. It has incredibly good optics with an na of 0.1, equal to superior to more modern scopes. What is important is that you are enjoying the hobby!

I personally do not have any experience but they look legit enough. Have you tried googling them to see is there are any complaints etc?

As an avid enthusiast for stereo microscopes, I will comment. Both prices are extremely competitive and in fact lower than any I have seen recently on E-bay.

Re: Nikon Microphot FXA
Ok I recently opted to use a microstuff LED replacement lamp rather than rewire the existing lamp. I then went through the scope and cleaned all the lenses. There were a few ugly spots. I can now view slides! Now I am considering upgrading to a DIC/Phase/darkfield set-up next. It is a beautiful scop...
