Stephanosphaera pluvialis - Aplnaspores and micro-zoospores
Maybe not really spectacular, but maybe interesting for some of the S. pluvialis fans here in the forum after all? Like Haematococcus pluvialis, S. pluvialis also develop permanent stages, so-called aplanospores. In this form, the alga survives longer phases in which the habitat has been dried out. ...

Re: Zeiss Hybrid Eyepieces
Hi 75RR, I could sent you the lower part from the KPL8x for free, the eye lense is scratched so it seems a good coincidense for you. So it would be just the shipment, approx 9 Euro or so. Let me know as soon as you got the KPL 10x. Sometimes difficult to find one of the KPL 10x with an eyelense in g...

....Perfect camera sensor size would be APS-C afaik, in this case the image you see in your (widefield as it appears, what is the field number, 24?) eyepieces is almost perfectly shaped and sized as the image that is projected onto the sensor. Hi SZH User, I exactely had the same idea...and was doi...

Re: Complete beginner looking to buy a microscope
Hi Enzeperix, if everything is working as it should it is a bargain...it is the Zeiss Standard WL, what is good since it is the modular research grade scope...removable noisepiece, removable stage, removable condernsor carrier and this kind of stuff. But there is one disadavantage with the WL...afte...

Re: Stentor sp. ? and macronucleus troubles
Hi rhiannontries, it looks like your sample has quite a large water layer between coverslip and the specimen. It is nice because it help to observe the natural shape of the beast. However to view and spot the details like the marko nucleus you would need to reduce the water layer, so the coverglass ...

Re: Spring loaded objective
Hi 75RR,
anti clockwise is correct. Sometimes the inner fine thread has anti rotating glue.
I checked my Planapo 63 under the stereo. Yes there is a sealing at the sleeve to the front cone. You would need to break or remove it with a knife, screwdriver etc.

Re: Spring loaded objective
Direction to open is left, like a screw. Unscrewing the rear panel cap using latex gloves, rubber stoppers or leather usually should work. If none of this helps: You need a flat surface for this (e.g. thicker glass plate, metal cube). You stick three on them layers of double-sided adhesive tape on t...

Well, at least the photos shows the DIC universal condensor, on the wheel you can see the small tag "DP100", what indicates the matching DIC prism for the UPLANFl 100x oil objective.
