Re: Very confused - camera works on compound, but not trinocular/stereo
No problem. I've had systems which I tried to turn instead of pull and it took me a while.

Re: Very confused - camera works on compound, but not trinocular/stereo
There is a push-pull knob on the side (probably on the left) to go from binoc to camera tube.

Re: Cover for microscopes
I also have the Zeiss 405 inverted and a couple of Universals which need covers. My choice would also be blue or grey, but I'm not objectionable with different colors either. Any material which is lint free and breathes would be fine. Rip stop nylon or some other polyesters fabric would probably be ...

Re: Cover for microscopes
I have lots of plastic bags which I use for mine but prefer the nylon breathable covers like what Zeiss makes. I also like what your wife makes. Would she make some for me in nylon for some of my Zeiss Standards, which would be about the size of the AO 110? Of course I would pay for them. She could ...

Re: trinocular head question
I think it seems a bit bizarre making two heads 1mm difference, but it looks like they may have. If that is the case, you will need to measure your scope and get the head which will fit it.

I have a Dialux and the mounting flange is 43mm. Even the ones which state 42mm are probably 43mm...it depends on where you measure it.

Dennis, if you're so interested in dust mites, go look for them. Can't be that hard with them being everywhere and I can't imagine them being that fast. If they are, slow them down or kill the little buggers.

Re: Video of Demodex folliculorum
Wow daleo, this is bizarre and somewhat creepy. I never new these were common on everyone but babies. I knew of the ones affecting the eye lashes but not this type swimming in the pores of the nose, forehead and chin. I'll never look at another persons face without wondering if these on crawling on ...

Re: Another Zeiss Microscope
Thank you to you both! Phil, The mystery knob at the back is to hold something which goes into the little round hole between the two large finger holes. I'm thinking there is a rod which goes in there which probably holds an auxilary lens/mirror. I laid the limb back and there is about a 1" clearanc...

Thank you Bill and Gekko!
Researching and asking around found out that is a rare version of the Zeiss Jug Handled microscopes made around 1923. So I am thrilled with this purchase!

Another Zeiss Microscope
Another brass and black Zeiss microscope to add to my collection. I have three other Zeiss 'Jug Handled' microscopes but have never seen a two hole handled Zeiss scope, until now. Has rotating circular stage, four objective turret with four objectives, four eye pieces, 1.4 condenser with oblique adj...

Re: interesting microscope deal on eBay
Although the value is there in the scope you linked to, it will be hard to sell a Zeiss BF scope at that price when compared to what is out there for a comparable price. That's why most sellers will break down a scope like that and sell the parts. If he did that, it would break down to this: Trinoc ...

Nice instrument Phil. I have a few like that but not that model. I wonder if there might have been a lens for the top of that to give it higher magnification?

Re: interesting microscope deal on eBay
I don't think that is that good of a deal. It is missing the slide holder and transformer. The eyepiece holder looks chewed up and for a brightfield scope appears to be over priced. If you look hard enough, you can get a real sweet deal like this with phase for around $100: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2...

I responded but it didn't show up. Maybe I didn't hit the submit button.
But my information came from a 1978 Zeiss price catalog and shows the 46-18-20 as the 63X and the 46-19-20 as the 100X.

Re: objective identification
46 19 20 is a Zeiss Neofluar 100X NA 1.30 oil, o.24 working distance, 1.92 focal length and originally sold for $671. I would think the 9903 extension would still be the same objective.

Re: objective identification
The 5024785 is the serial number for older Zeiss objectives. The newer Zeiss objectives have PN which have three sets of two digits like: 46 07 21. All Zeiss Neofluars have higher NA than the achros and planachros with the apos having the highest NA and resolution.
