Re: Choosing ring light for Stereo Microscope
Looking for a ring light for my microscope. There are a lot of options, some of them are really cheap, others are expensive. I am wondering is there any difference between the cheap one and the expensive one. For instance this light from Euromex and the Chineese option from Aliexpress. https://www....

I have worked with thin sections some years ago.. I am retired now and just use the microscope as a hobby... I don't take it as serious as I once did...

Re: DIY polarizing
Hi Mary, The idea is to have one between the light and the subject and another between the subject and the eye.. I use a second hand camera filter over the light so it is easy to rotate to get extinction.. This works also: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Polarizing-Film-EDUCATIONAL-GRADE/252617982312 BillT

Don't worry about negative comments here on your choice... I would just look at AmScope.. I think you can get the same or similar setup from Amscope usually for less money.. Chinese scopes are fine for hobby use unless you are a boring perfectionist that leads a very dull life..
