Hairs in eye.
Surprising yes but...
...I guess the image can be "error corrected" by the bee visual system, to allow/ignore hairs. Lots of little lenses.
The hairs could still give important proximity information, warn about parasites etc. It has no lids.

Could I also pry for details. How have you mounted the wing? I assume in air, but any tricks or is it just on a silde?
Also your lighting is sublime....I would love to know how to do that....
