Re: Objective changes opinions please.

Good way to look at the microscopes. I am about 20 miles SE of Downtown Nashville, but only about 9 miles from the Nashville border, in a bordering county, Rutherford, but I know what you mean. I am just outside a city of 40k, Smyrna, and about 7 miles NW of a city of 120k, Murfreesboro. From the ho...

Re: Objective changes opinions please.

I Thank all for their responses. I believe I will take the advice of both Gekko and Apochronaut. I have had my current microscope for only 8 months, but I'm going to try to expand my observing and see what I might want to do next, like I did with astronomy. Probably, this spring I will end up with b...

Objective changes opinions please.

As with a billion other people, the 'scope I have, the Amscope M500B, has four objectives: 4x, 10x, 40x, and 100x. Although, I do view water droplets and other ACTUAL micoscopic things, most of what I observe are not microscopic; insects, flower parts, seeds, coins, etc. I regularly use the 4x and 1...

Re: birdbath things

Sorry but I can't make out ANYTHING in that photo. Had to reduce it so much that the detail fell apart. Also, my camera (currently my phone), treats ANY light like its a spotlight. I have a webcam made for a 1.25" forcuser (used on my Newt) and I'm trying to download Registax 6 - a program I've use...

birdbath things

I know there are probably a thousand people here who know what these are. I've seen them many times, but I can't find names. This pic looks terrible but I had to reduce it to almost nothing, relative to the original, to get it to post.

Excellent photo. I am wondering how you have a pothole in the your yard, though.

Re: Amscope MD150 and Orion Imager IV ?

Thanks Jim. I have found that if I unscrew the 1.25" adaptor to near the end, but to a point where it's still firming attached, it will fit over the microscope EP, but it's hard to keep it on axis. The 5MP is something to consider, so I might just buy one MADE for the 23mm forcuser and keep them sep...

Amscope MD150 and Orion Imager IV ?

As an Amateur Astronomer, I have the Orion StarShoot Solar System Imager IV. Its a 1.3MP CMOS Imager. It i designed for telescopes and is designed for 1.25" focuser. I am comparing this imager to the MD150, Amscope's own 1.3MP CMOS Imager. Amscope states that you can, not only take videos, but also ...

Garden Centipede @ 200x

The links below are of a very small centipede I found dead. He was only 5mm long, so I was surprised by the level of detail. I found an interesting view of two opposing claws. First link shows the detail @ 200x. Second link shows the centipede's size relative to a nickel. http://postimg.org/image/qm...

Re: 40x objective question

Speaking of stereo scopes. Some of them are low-power models, under 100x or so, and have a large gap between the "stage" and the bottom of the objectives. Others have several objectives like most of the monocular types and look like "standard" microscopes. Wouldn't the later have the same limitation...

40x objective question

My Amscope has the "standard" objectives of 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x (oil). My EPs are 5x, 10x and 20x. I bought the 5x after purchase. When I view specimens without depth of field, you know - water droplets, stains, etc, I don't seem to have a problem getting a focus with the 40x. when I view 3-D obje...

MINTAKA:

Is the first image of what you were trying to identify a photo or drawing? Regardless, it looks amazing, but especially if it is a drawing.
