Re: Zeiss Universal

Start the alignment at the epi-illuminator lamp. Then go to the epi-condenser. At that point, you will have the epi-illuminator tube coming off of the objective holder; just align it by eye to start with-so that the light is going down through the objective. At this point, make a small reference mar...

Re: Zeiss Universal

OK, I thought there were three, but you are right, there are four grub screws. If you have no marks to go by, you can still line it up, but it's a longer process. I've been able to take them off, and change them between microscopes. That being said, it can take a little trial and error to get it jus...

Two Zeiss Universals-gone

I need to sell these microscopes.
Two partial Zeiss Universals. Almost enough to make a working microscope. See photos.

Both for US$ 120 plus shipping.

Thanks for looking.

How would you center the optovar on this stand?
There are three little centering screws on the bottom of the head. They often each have a retaining screw covering them. Just adjust slowly and carefully.

Zeiss Universal-gone

I have a project Zeiss Universal stand. Needs a few more parts to be functional. A good start on a new build, or a good source for parts for your current microscope. I am finishing graduate school, and I am can't move all my microscope projects with me. I have a few of these Universals in similar co...

Re: Zeiss Axiomat for sale

You don't have to lift it, just look through it  .

Another good thing is the side port can be used for a camera, similar to a trinocular on a normal microscope.

Zeiss Axiomat for sale- lower price

I'm selling a Zeiss Axiomat. The was an engineering marvel of the 1980s, way ahead of its time. Fewer than 600 or so ever made. Original cost was around $100,000. This includes the base module, the camera module, observation module, the objective module, and the video baseplate (used as a stage here...

Re: Zeiss Microscope part SOLD

Yes, that is the fine focus mechanism. I'm going to use the stand for my Tessovar macro lens. I want to attach farther back to the solid block of metal because of the weight of the camera and lens. The coarse focus should be enough since there is a fine focus on the Tessovar mount already. I have to...

Zeiss Microscope part

This a Zeiss part that came off of an industrial machine, perhaps microhardness or metrology. It came on a recent stand I purchased, which is destined to become a macro lens holder. I don't need it. I don't know much about it. the threads are RMS and the dovetail is 52 mm. $10 plus shipping, if it l...

Re: Zeiss mystery scope

OK, some more clues... The scope does not seem to be modified. All parts are fitted and assembled, and finished with Zeiss factory precision. The height of the column is 24 inches. The objective arm is mounted on a dovetail that allows approximately 1.5 mm of movement in the Z-axis, perhaps to preve...

Thanks All,

This definitely "Made in West Germany". I know that particular label indicates a certain year range, but I don't know my history well enough to narrow it down. 1945-1991?

Zeiss mystery scope

Here is my new acquisition. I have not seen another one, and I am not sure what is is. It has a micrometer of the fine focus, so I'm guessing some sort of industrial measuring microscope. Electrical connections on the back and side of the stand- could be anything... The stage is missing. The binocul...

Re: Inverted Stereomicroscope-Got it!

OK, Put together the inverted stereomicroscope. An old Zeiss SM off the back shelf, a 90 degree connector from an OPMI, and a binocular from a ophthalmologists' slit lamp. All fits together mechanically, and actually works optically!

Just need to build a stage now!

Zeiss Standard

I have this little Zeiss Standard Junior. It has the condenser in place. It also has the flip in 1.5x tube lens. Mechanically good.
A good frame for a build project.
$30 plus actual postage.
Thanks!

Re: Zeiss DIC slider

That might work. Parfocality is not a concern. This objective will end up as part of the illuminating system. I could probably use any brand of objective- it just needs to be about 10-15x with long working distance, and RMS threads. I'll shop through eBay to try to find something suitable. The will ...

Re: Zeiss DIC slider

Thanks 75RR and PeteM,

That's helpful.
I don't want to buy the lambda plate. I'm thinking of machining a plate out of aluminum.

This is for my DIY Lightsheet illumination project. I need to put a patterned screen in the rear focal plane of the objective. I thought this might be the easiest way.

I've had a Meiji stereo microscope for about 20 years. It's held up pretty well. Good for general purpose work around the lab.
Here's a link to it on Amazon:

Re: Zeiss Universal Focusing Block

Thanks 75RR, The motorized Z-axis is good for computerized scans that are going to last many hours. I wrote to ASI for a price quote. Probably out of my range. I do have motorized focus on my Axiomat at home, and I like it. It's an old-fashioned DC motor, not a stepper motor. It can't be preprogramm...

75RR, Not to change the subject, but do you have the ASI motor Z-axis controller for the universal? Seems like it should also fit the Standard WL. I like ASI products, especially their light sheet microscopes. The Z-drive would be handy. We have motor drive on all our microscopes at work; it would b...

It looks like those medical students are taking a practical exam under the watchful eye of their professor. I would recommend moving those microscopes farther apart. It looks like the medical student on the left is staring at the answer sheet of the student's clipboard in the middle.

Well, I have taken an old, black, metal-knobbed focusing block and put it on a later model Universal with no problem.
I looked through all my microscopes, but they all have metal knobs now.

Should be 100% interchangeable. Go for it!
