Re: Fungus Identification Help
HI billbillt, I do not have experience with different microscopes. Comparing images from a research scope like an Olympus BX53, the photographic images from an Olympus BX53 have a better resolution -- clearer distinct borders. Though, price wise the Olympus would have to have 10 times clearer pictur...

Re: Fungus Identification Help
Thank you apochronaut, for your detailed comments! They are appreciated. Cauliflower and Broccoli were seeded on September 1 2018. It braved the winter in an unheated greenhouse in Southcentral BC Canada (Kootenay Area). Temperatures did drop to -7.8° C over winter. The cool winter temperatures did ...

Fungus Identification Help
How close can a fungus be identified from these pictures? It was found growing on the base of a cauliflower stem in Southern British Columbia (Kootenay Area) in a greenhouse. Temperature low high in the greenhouse for the last week was 5.8° to 31.3° C. More pictures here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/X...

>>> What do you mean by 'match'? I am stitching images and am having difficulty calculating the overlap from one image to the other. If the field of views matched then calculating the overlap would be much easier or when one segment ends and the other begins. I don't need much overlap when I visuall...

Looking for ways to match up what I am seeing through the eyepiece with what is being displayed through the camera.

Re: Picture magnification question?
Thank you all good answers. I was puzzling about a 1000x annotation on an image. The annotation does not mean much without a scale. Annotating the magnification of the objective used when capturing the image along with a scale may be better. When calibrating a camera, are x and y dimensions the same...

Picture magnification question?
I have a camera mounted on a 0.5X reduction lens and am using a PH20 objective what is the magnification? I am thinking the pictures are taken at 10 times magnification. Looking through the eyepiece at 10x and a PH20 objective magnification is 200 times. However, pictures taken look much more than 1...

Fine Focal Adjustment Device.
Is there an aftermarket device (or home engineered one) that extends the radius of the fine focus knob for very fine increments of the focal plane?
Should be good to use for image stacking software.
The knob on my microscope has a small radius and its difficult to focus on higher magnifications.

In chemistry, I learnt that some elements will fluoresce different colours when burnt now wondering if something similar can be extrapolated in microscopy. How light refracts through crystals? They would only be water soluble mineralizations. I am sure something like this has been attempted in micro...
