MIcroscopic Aquarium Slides

Do these exist? Kind of like Winogradsky column microbial ecosystems

Thanks for any references

There are these cover slip bottom petri dishes for inverters scopes. The can hold quite a bit of water for an extended period and allow for excellent views

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but there are certain slides called "deep well slides". They are much thicker than normal slides (so you wouldn't be able to use 40x magnification, at least I wasn't when using this kind of a slide) and they kind of hard to find for sale. They have a cover that snaps on and it holds a decent amount of water (more than a regular well slide) and the water will stay for days if the cover is snapped on securely and the slide is kept in a proper environment and temperature.

The two approaches would appear to be almost contradictory ... The column is a demonstration model of ‘community action’ [‘though admittedly small compared with the real world], but microscopy is more relevant to the study of individuals.

It’s a great thought, but I don’t see how it could be practical

How about this:

An old science teacher gave me one in middle school when I started the hobby. They are quite fun for low magnification and non-critical work. I used it heavily for viewing seed shrimp and small micro-macro organisms that i wished to view more than once. I sadly lost it (probably accidentally threw it away knowing me) however I would recommend it, and infact i myself might purchase some as the seasons begin to change.

Not exactly sure what you're looking for but...............
You might find this link interesting. It's a DIY which I've used occasionally and pretty simple to make but can be difficlt to clean. There are others including a couple made with salvaged binocular prisms which is a little more complicated but worth the effort. Including one which slips over an objective via a pvc fitting.

Hope this helps.
