Where to buy slides and #1.5 coverslips

I found some slides on Amazon:
Karter scientific slides with frosted end
Levenhuk slides
Are these any good?

I found some #1.5 coverslips at Bioscience tools.
High precision cover glasses, No 1.5, CSHP-

Cover glasses for high performance microscopes, made of chemically resistant borosilicate glass of the first hydrolytic class with precision thickness No. 1.5 (0.170 mm ± 0.005 mm), suitable for in-vitro diagnostic applications. Absolutely colorless, perfectly clear, suitable for fluorescence microscopy. Made in Germany.

From where do forum members recommend buying slides and #1.5 coverslips?

I would like consistent quality across the glass.

Thank you for your help.

Mary

The specs of the Bioscience coverslips mean a very high quality. Were they more affordable, I would have bought them.

Thank you. I’ll keep looking. Maybe I should just start out with #1’s.

If you are looking at aquatic samples, # 1 coverslips are often more suitable. The recommendation for using #2 covers is based on an ideal but many amateurs prepare aquatic samples too thick. For higher resolution objectives .40 N.A. and over but especially .65 and over using thinner coverslips , .10 to .15 allows for some sloppiness in sampling and will provide better imaging:

@apochronaut Good point about #1 slips for aquatic samples.

If anyone is looking for high precision 0.17 +- 0.005mm #1.5 cover slips (18mmx18mm) you can get some Zeiss on eBay for $2.50 per 100 pack plus $5 shipping with $0.50 shipping each additional unit.

The $0.50 increase in shipping per item is more than the discount for buying 2.

I ended up buying some of the #1’s. I know I’ll be doing some sloppy slides at first, and/or maybe they will work well if I want a gap between the slide and coverslip. I added the eBay 1.5’s to my watchlist so I can buy a box later.

Thanks for the help!

Here are Zeiss coverslips from $3.50-$2.98 depending on what quantity you buy. He also combines shipping and reasonable offers. I offered and got 10 packs for $2.50 each plus combined shipping.

When I used to prepare aquatic samples I would wonder whether my scope would be in a good mood that day.

Apparently I wasn't the only one: https://www.microinformatics.net/index. ... microscope
