Is clearing necessary?

For plant sections, is clearing really necessary? Sections of plant can be scarce of cell contents but I want to know if the clearing process is required for high quality preparation.

Can you give us some detail, for example what are you using the term 'clearing' to mean, and what type of processing are you referring to? Do you mean the 'full histological process' of going from freshly-taken tissue right through to permanently-mounted and stained slides?

Yeah mrsonchus, I want to know if plant sections require clearing agents for permanent preparations.
