That sounds interesting. Would need to get hold of nickel acetate...but could probably manage it.

Hi all...what is the longevity (kept out of intense light other than during observations) of glycerol or viscous canning syrups for 'permanent algae slides'? I seem to recall a number of natural history museum websights offer online free content on how to preserve specimens (insect,botanical,herps,avian,etc..).
To maintain the 'habit' of algae I think depression slides are needed often to permit overall algae natural morphology? I think I've seen such in museum collections...ahh but the living colors...hmm.
