There are a couple of grape-derived dyes, Mega Purple and Ultra Red, that I want to try as stains. They are used as wine additives, for the vintner to add color and sweetness to a wine. Supposedly used a lot in California wines. Mega Purple is available, but I haven't found a small quantity, yet.

Bill, I can add red food colouring with a pinch of vinegar as another great stain. I use it a lot and think it gives very good results.

Blue and green dye, not so much.
