Counting and identifying

#1 Post by lydia » Sat Jan 05, 2019 6:36 am

What is the easiest way to count and identify microorganisms in pond water samples? I had the idea of a tray full of tiny shallows for water just big enough for the microscope to see all the water in it. That way the species could be counted easily. Does such a thing exist, and is it practical?

Or a special cloth/mesh to go over water on slides that would separate it out into compartments?

I am new to microscopy, so I hope this isn’t a dumb question.
