How do you achieve oblique illumination ? I know about Flèche de Mathias and filters, but none of them (which I tried DIY) worked properly at the moment.

Very cool amoeba, I'd love to catch one, their pseudopods are alien-like. Fascinating.

There are several ways (and types) of Oblique illumination - all require trial and error and a little patience.

A quick and serviceable Oblique can be had by partially offsetting the brightfield port on a circular condenser while playing with the condenser diaphragm setting.

Oh yeah, the van Egmond Mask, I tried it too ! it was a failure aha. To be honest, I don't really know where to put such masks. Most of them are between the condenser and the light path, but I have no idea how to hold them, filter slots ?
The Gradient Universal Filter is interesting, i'll try it asap. Thanks !
