Tisochrysis lutea culture suffering

#1 Post by becs.eldridge » Mon Jan 27, 2020 3:00 pm

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and was hoping to get some advice on why my axenic culture of Tisochrysis lutea may be doing so poorly all of a sudden. I am growing it in F2 media, and have been successfully for 3 years. All of a sudden my cultures started going from a nice golden- brown colour to greenish-yellow. I thougth the culture may have been contaminated, so I ordered a brand new culture from a culture collection and it is still not growing properly. Some of the cultures turn white and die. I haven't changed anything in my production methods that I am aware of. Any advice?

Thank you!

A bit more info' on your setup and what remedial steps you've tried would be helpful. If infection is suspected my first step would be swapping out the containers and utensils used for culturing, sanitization methods can be ineffective.
