Another brass and black Zeiss microscope to add to my collection. I have three other Zeiss 'Jug Handled' microscopes but have never seen a two hole handled Zeiss scope, until now.
Has rotating circular stage, four objective turret with four objectives, four eye pieces, 1.4 condenser with oblique adjustments and case.

Thank you Bill and Gekko!
Researching and asking around found out that is a rare version of the Zeiss Jug Handled microscopes made around 1923. So I am thrilled with this purchase!

That is a very nice microscope, Charles. One of those unique and rare instruments that were no doubt made in small quantities. The tube, looks to be over size, which leads me to believe that it was designed to be used for photography as well as visual.I don't know about Zeiss but some systems had a camera body that mounted above the body tube after the eyepiece tube was removed and the camera lens went down inside the body tube....hence the extra diameter of the body tube.

The little mystery knob, at the back. When the microscope is rotated on the pillar shaft into a horizontal position, does that little knurled screw not rest on the heel and work as a leveler, so the optical tube can be made perfectly horizontal or angled precisely, whichever is required? Spencer research stands had a similar set up but the arm sat on a chrome button , which was adjustable from under the base .

Thank you to you both!

Phil, The mystery knob at the back is to hold something which goes into the little round hole between the two large finger holes. I'm thinking there is a rod which goes in there which probably holds an auxilary lens/mirror. I laid the limb back and there is about a 1" clearance to the base of the stand to the knurled knob. There is two contact points lower on the limb, which can be adjusted with a special small spanner wrench.

I just noticed you have this cool telescope too Charles! gratz

Is something like that like coins; polishing it up ruins the value? Or can you slick it up as I would want? :-)
