Bristoline 3002

#1 Post by psteichen » Tue Dec 11, 2018 4:38 am

I recently bought this older Bristoline 3002 and I was wondering if anyone has recommendations as to parts I should check for need of reconditioning. Also, I don't suppose anyone would have a sales brochure or manual?

These were imported from Japan by the same folks now importing Accu-Scope branded microscopes from China. They were built well enough that only a thorough cleaning and re-lube might be necessary if controls are stiff.

The objectives are short barrel. Not sure the exact parfocal distance, but there's probably somthing close from Olympus or Nikon of that era ('60's to maybe 80's) if you find one or more objectives not to your liking.

I'm pretty sure these were made by Kyowa, and are J.I.S.( 37mm parfocal)and 170mm tube, which Nikon and Olympus were not. They were 35mm and 36.65 respectively with 160mm tubes. Getting into those in a mix with the Bristol objectives will throw a monkey wrench into parfocality and if any replacements were low power versions, quality of the image would suffer. Objectives marked Japan and Edmund, Misco,Tasco, SPI, Lumiscope,Bristol, Kyowa, International and others of the same era; were all J.I.S. and most of them made by either Kyowa or Carton. Generic older Chinese objectives are unlikely to be J.I.S

Great info, thanks. I did find that the Accu-Scope website has a manual for the 3002, but the pictures look a bit different. I think the manual is for a newer model.
