Hi together,
I don't collect microscopes but there a few collectible microscope types I'm interested in as much that I actually would buy one. One was a well equiped research microscope from around WW 1.
I haven't really looked for one and thus it had to come to me: A Zeiss Big Resaerch Microscope from about 1911. It used to belong to a professor who had it inside a vitrine on his desk and inherited it to the sellers, who kept it in a cupboard from then on. I had a somewhat tiresome week and picking it up from the very nice sellers has put me in a much better mood.
Everything works, only little damage I found was at the revolver where the lid shows a gap to the revolver on one side. One part of the slde holder is missing. It really needs to be serviced.

It is equipped whith some components that are not original: A binocular tube, a Leitz "3" objective and a Zeiss "1/7'' Homogene Immersion" n.a. 0,85 objective. Can anybody of you identify and date these 3 items?

Nice older microscope. It will be fun to use that one on occasion. You are welcome to that Zeiss 1/12" 1.30 homog. immers., I tested in a recent thread. works well , in it's original cannister. Shipping would only be a small amount----probably the leg. I guess I would accept the arm for the objective.

in the meantime I found out that the binocular tube had the name "BITUKNI" and followed the "BITUMI" in 1925. Zeiss and Leitz had a funny system of easy to distinguish short names to allow quick and precise communication. The top of the BITUKNI Siedentopf head resembles the bino tubes for the Zeiss LG microscopes closely that were built until mit 1960s or so - 40 years! So it wasn't available when the microscope was bought, but it was meant for it nevertheless. Zeiss sold the BITUKNI not for a specific microscope model though. They just excluded the small and mineralogic models and stated a tube lenght from objective flange to BITUKNI flange of 115mm.
