flower holder idea?

I like to examine plants and flowers, not only for their own detail, but also for the very small insects hidden inside. Does anyone have a simple idea for a flower holder with the Stereo scope in mind?

Hemostats? Mini spring clamps? Helping hands (http://tinyurl.com/j7urmrv)? There's always the ever-versatile modeling clay too. And as Fan suggests, a small dish of some sort, which makes subject manipulation a lot easier.

What I have been using is a large pair of tweeters, and wedging the stem (very short piece) into the part where the two pieces come together. One thing I was thinking is to drill a pilot hole into a piece of soap stone or some other heavier "stand".
