Rotating stage

#1 Post by Glot » Wed Feb 26, 2020 7:13 am

I cut some 4mm HDF board to fit on my stage. In that I cut a large hole with a hole saw. I cut a similar price with a slightly smaller hole. I glued one to the other. I cut a piece of round glass to fit neatly in the larger hole. A simple rotating stage. An A4 sheet of reasonably good polarising film cost A$20. I cut a disk to go under the stage. I cut another and put it in the axillary lens cover my stereoscopic has. I turn the upper to achieve extinction for XPL or remove it for PPL. I just put it on a turn or two. A slide out or swing out filter is on the list. Another way is to make a card tube to fit over the eye piece and attach the film to that. It can easily be lifter off.

I've been experimenting with some polarizing films also. Further details of your results would be appreciated.
