Cohnilembus pusillus since it has cirri on the tip or a species of Dileptus kind of hard to tell, which magnification was it observe with?

Found this image online of a Cohnilembus for comparison

It could be Stichotricha I think. I once found one that looks about similar, but often the details are more important then the overall looks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSmVq-sUhb4 .

Thanks janvangastel

I think the spiral cilia are probably an important identifier - see drawing

I agree with Jan: it's a Stichotricha, cf. S. aculeata (Note that Kahl's pic of S. secunda in the above illustration is actually S. aculeata...he reversed the species, which has caused a lot of confusion over the years!)

Thanks Bruce. Curiously to my mind at least, none of the photos of Stichotricha secunda nor Stichotricha aculeata quite match the drawings as much as my image does.

Yes, they do not usually look as long and twisty as your ciliate. :) A closely-related genus to consider is Chaetospira, which can look quite different when it happens to leave its lorica...as this one does, in the second half of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntRF0yNxRPk
