A testate amoeba?

#1 Post by lukem321 » Wed Dec 03, 2014 4:10 am

Unfortunately the quality isn't very good, but it was a beautiful find. The object in question is what appears to be a test below the the synurid. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Luke

Have you checked out the links in Resources (online, books etc.) amoeboid organisms
i.e. http://www.arcella.nl/overview-all
Zeiss Standard WL (somewhat fashion challenged) & Wild M8
Olympus E-P2 (Micro Four Thirds Camera)

Thank you all for the kind comments. I have looked at a few online resources, but I haven't seen anything quite like it. I know nearly nothing about testate amoebae but hopefully that will change with time.

I think I can answer your identification enquiry. The yellow ball is The colonial flagellate Synura while the colourless spiky one is a Trachelomonas (not the same but similar to the one in the drawing).

Hello,
The lower one looks to me like a tardigrade egg.
See http://www.baertierchen.de/wb_okt00.html.
