Looking for ID on the hitch hikers

#1 Post by 75RR » Wed Feb 27, 2019 9:22 pm

Planapo 63x/1.4, DIC, 20µm alga width, 26 image stack in Photoshop, Marine, Alborán Sea.

I seem to recall seeing a reference on the little hitch hikers on the alga but drawing a blank at the moment. Anyone have a name?

Hi billbillt, it is quite likely an epibiont re wiki definition:

'An epibiont is an organism that lives on the surface of another living organism.'

Still hoping for a Species/Genus ID ... if anyone knows

Edit: Found this ... perhaps not too far away: http://cfb.unh.edu/phycokey/Choices/Chr ... _page.html
