ID Help request

#1 Post by JimT » Fri Oct 24, 2014 5:52 pm

Stationary object about 120 um's. Worm like green object moved around inside perimeter and brown diatom like objects also moved. Thanks for any help. JimT

Hi JimT,
my guess would be Testate Amoeba. See link.

I think that the green object that moved insided the perimeter might be Oscillatoria or some other cyanobacteria. The "brown diatom like objects" that also moved I'm fairly certain are, in fact, diatoms. Nice images and a great find.

This is the empty testate amoeba shell of Arcella with Oscillatoria and a few diatoms inside.

Seamer , thanks. That is an old image and I have never seen another in two and a half years. Lucky find.
