Here is a short compilation of 6 creatures I have observed this week. I'm not sure if the last four are testate amoebas or not. I know the first is Arcella Vulgaris, but I do not know the IDs of the rest. My main question here is are Examples 3,4,5 and 6 testate amoebas ?

Hmmm-- I guess I'll just assume that all of them are amoebas.

Had missed this post - that happens sometimes when another one is posted soon after.

You have been busy and your source is very productive.

Unfortunately I can't help much - nothing definitive. Even with Ferry's wonderful site it is quite difficult.

I would say yes with the possible exceptions of Nº 4 which I am not sure what it is (some movement would probably help) and Nº 6 which I suppose could be Heliozoa

some guesses:
1. An Arcella, size and side view would have helped
2. Probably a Difflugia or a Pontigulasia
3. A filose Amoeba
4. No idea, probably no Amoeba
5. Probably another small Arcella
6. Probably another filose Amoeba or as 75RR guessed a Heliozoa.

Thank you Hans ! Finally this week I received a measuring reticle (which I have calibrated ) so in the future I can provide sizes. As for side view, is there a procedure for obtaining this ?

No procedure! One tries to turn the object by tipping on the cover glass or pushing the glass to a side. If you are lucky the object rotates a bit and lets you view it from another angle. Convex slides are helpful.
Its 10% skill, 90 % luck

There are other ways of achieving a side view, but it takes a little more practice - first you need to train a worm ...
