Just returned from a day at the Pender Harbour (BC), Seaweed and Mushroom Festival. People were using the dissecting scopes to examine the mushrooms and seaweeds and I was showing the amazing variety of forms and types of spores using my CZ Standard WL. There were literally hundreds of mushroom varieties on display and so plenty samples from which to collect spores. I had a great day.
I also looked at a sample of Sargassum muticum (pretty but invasive to the Salish Sea) that hosted a thriving collection of stalked and pennate diatoms. It had been freshly collected by a visiting seaweed expert. We also found some examples of this red object and have no idea what it might be, any ideas?
Thanks
Michael
