Marine, Med/Alborán Sea, 150µm
Taken with a 25x/0.60 so if there is some fine detail it was not resolved

Acantheria have those symmetrical cross shaped chloroplast concentrations and can look 2 dimensional in the microscope.

Here is another guess: Perissonoe cruciata
and still another, but of lesser chance - Amphitetras sp.

Thanks for the suggestions ... I am afraid it still remains a mystery. Will keep looking and update this post if I find something likely.

The chloroplasts in your sample are much smaller, si? I also would wonder if the cruciform arrangement is random or characteristic? The basic form, does seem related , though.

Would not want to state that it is Helicotheca tamesis, but even if it is, it is hardly a representative sample and therefore not much use as a basis for identification.

Will put it on hold for now in the hope that a closer match or perhaps another sample will be found at some point.
