Re: LED CONVERSION FOR INVERTED ZEISS
Seems expedient. I like leds but have not been able to get great results from the flashlights I have had. If you ever feel that this may be the case, I have used free xpl2 leds and more recently osram oslon leds with typical cri well into the 90s. I can recommend them along with, if you were for instance to use a one amp buck pick with variable resistance dimming to forego the tiny pots and get a beefy 5k with an audio taper. Linear taper doesn't give good apparent results to the eye unless you get extremely fiddly with it.

Yes I had a over 100 of them and they are all knurled. What I don't like is the abrasiveness of the knurling which is why I said I could do without it. It has the potential to create metal shavings which could get somewhere you don't want them. However unlikely its just something to keep in the back of your mind.

Yup I had a bunch! Every now and then I get in a selling mood and that time I sold most of my electronics supplies. LED's, resistors, switches, etc.. by the bag full! I bought it all for next to nothing at auction from a company that closed it's doors. I keep what I thought I would use but now I wish I'd keep more.

Dropped it on the lathe and knocked down the knurl a bit while i was at it I drilled a handle hole and pressed it in.Element 56 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 2:34 pmThat works! I sold a bag full of those on eBay a while ago and now wished I saved them!
I could do without the knurling though.

I like it! That reminds me I need to make some lollypop filters for my Orthoplan!
What kind of lathe do you have? I have a little Taig mini which is a great machine and I also have a small craftsman 101. I can thread with the 101 but it's not a quick change machine. It's kind of time consuming to change gears when I need to cut different thread pitches but it gets the job done.
