AMSCOPE WILL BE DELIGHTED TO SELL YOU A PHASE CONTRAST TURRRET KIT FOR YOUR MODEL 660 SCOPE. HOWEVER, THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU PUT OUT THE SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS REQUIRED TO PURCHASE IT.
1. IT IS ADVERTTISED AT 10, 20, 40, AND 100X. IT IS NOT. IT IS 4, 10, 40, AND 100X.
2. ALL ARE PHASE OBJECTIVES.
3. TURRENT PHASE RINGS ARE 10, 40, AND 100X. 4X USES 10X PHASE RING AND LOOKS OK.
4. IT HAS A DRY DARKFIELD STOP BUILT IN WHICH WORKS WELL, AND A BRIGHTFIELD SETTING ALSO.
5. MY DIAPHRAGM WILL NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY IN BRIGHT FIELD. THE ASSEMBLY IS ONE CLICK OFF. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ERROR, AND NO, I WILL NOT BE TRYING TO FIX IT.
6. IT IS DIFFICULT TO CENTER BUT TENDS TO STAY PUT WHEN DONE.
7. I WOULD NOT GIVE IT 5 STARS,,,, MAYBE 4.
8. IT WILL ONLY WORK ON THE 660 SCOPE.

JUST THOUGHT YOU OUGHTA KNOW.

Go on, you know you want to.
Just a few screws.
Disassemble in a shallow tub or tray to reduce the risk of parts escaping.
Worth asking where is the 20x they advertise?
Maybe they won't want the 4x back.

I'm afraid the iris will fall apart and I won't be able to figure it out so I'm gonna leave it alone. Like a diver who won't go deeper than 100 feet, I have my limits with hands that don't work well. 😃

Figuring out the iris isn't usually that hard. It's not going nuts after the fourth failed reassembly and persevering.

I just received (Saturday) the replacement for the phase turret for my 660 that Amscope had originally sent that wouldn't fit the dovetail on the condenser holder. The new one fits and works as Greg says - I didn't notice a problem with the brightfield iris (I'll check later today).
