INKO EPI CARL ZEISS FILTER

#1 Post by stjepo » Thu Apr 25, 2024 7:28 pm

Need help figuring out which Zeiss microscope model this filter INKO EPI was used on. The glass of the second circle (close to the screw) slides if the screw at the top is guided. At the top the one I found in internet, is smaller (body 4.5cm the INKO EPI 7.5 cm)

Thank you Alexander, but how do you know that the in that compensator/filter cristal is for DIC?

Hi Steve.

"Inko" was used by Zeiss for their early DIC condensers.
The constructions, that allows movement along one axis is another indicator.

I am not perfectly sure and did just a guess.

Alexander you said: "I am not perfectly sure and did just a guess." Well, you're right, it's a Nomarski prism. I put a polarizer on top and this is the result.

Thank you

Steve

An educated guess is still a guess. I wouldn't go further without being sure.

Guess you realize, that this is a quite valuable item.

Inko means interferenz kontrast. Never seen this version though, the universal epi DIC has individual unremoveable prisms for each objective.

Wow, nice DIC slider find! Thank you for posting photos of the internal mechanism.

It looks like pushing/pulling the rod slides the prism along the shear axis. Does turning the knurled knob also tilt the prism mount? Might be easiest to see what happens between crossed polarizers.

Be sure to place that prism back in the orientation it was in originally. Which is why there is a 90 deg non-clipped corner.

Mineral rob "Does turning the knurled knob also tilt the prism mount? " Is already tilted and only goes forward or backwards.
