Hello all,
I have recently aquired a Shandon Autosharp 5 microtome knife sharpener, however the one thing im missing is the manual. I was wondering if anyone here happens to have a copy of them, and is willing to scan them for me.
Alternatively, just answering the general question of, if i should use the (what i think are either Lapps or hone plates) with oil, water or dry, when sharpening the knives.
If anyone happens to also have the schematics for it, that would also be nice to have.
Shandon Autosharp 5 manual request
Re: Shandon Autosharp 5 manual request
Hi LBochtler,
I don't know the Shandon Autosharp 5 microtome knife sharpener at all, how ever my understanding is that some/many/most microtome knife sharpeners use glass "plates" for the hone to which has to be added some liquid bearing abrasive. If your hones/lapps are self abrasive then they will need to be used with a liquid, probably water.
Hope this helps.
Peter.
