Hi guys,

Sorry for all the leitz posts, im just having a hard time making sure im looking for the right parts.

I've read a few posts saying that if I want the maximum resolution my 100/1.30 objective is capable of I will need an oel top lens to to replace my .90 on my current condenser.

I've currently got a lead on a condenser with a 1.25 top lens, I believe that I can just swap this in to my polarizing condenser but wanted to double check.

I attached pictures of the one that I am looking at now

Thank you

Hi,

the condenser your picture shows is the #600 type, the so called 'Badewanne' (bathtub condenser).
It depends on your Leitz microscope whether you can put it directly into the condenser holder or not.
Whether it works to swap simply the condenser head I don't know.
You can get more information if you search for the Leitz brochure:
LEITZ Image-forming and Illuminating Systems engl.pdf

luxikon,

Thank you for the information!

I hadn't heard of that brochure before, I found a copy and will go through it as soon as possible!

Hi jb89, yes I'm sure the top-lens may simply be swapped-out for the 1.25 as I've done this myself with the same 600 series 'bathtub' condenser. I routinely changed from the 0.9 achr to a 1.25 aplanatic oil head on my Leitz Orthoplan.

This is the condenser with the top-lens unscrewed,

If it's stiff, use a wrench carefully and be sure to wrap it in a soft cloth to avoid tool-marks on the condenser top-lens shell..
