Wikipedia page for American Optical

The Wikipedia page for the American Optical company only speaks of their eyewear, nothing of their microscopes. It talks of the company's history going back to its founders, but somehow skips the part about making microscopes for many years. Seems like an oversight that should be corrected, if anyone wants to take the time.

AO microscopes were actually Spencer microscopes and after the corporate bosses decided to drop the name Spencer about 30 years after AO acquired Spencer, it became the AO Scientific Instruments Division working almost entirely out of a different city in a different state.
There is a Wikipedia page for Charles A. Spencer which covers some history and I rewrote the Leica Microsystems page to include accurate information about the merger which resulted in Leica Microsysystems and which AO figured prominently in , providing an optical system seed from which all further Leica developments have ultimately been based on. Previously the Leica page read as though, Leica was just a name change from E.Leitz Wetzlar, with no mention at all of the fact that it was in fact an entirely different entity, with an entirely different optical system.
It is true that AO and moreso Bausch & Lomb microscope systems are quite ignored, despite the entirely innovative nature of their products. Both divisions were quite small and ultimately starved for capital in comparison to their competitors and whats more lacked political support.
