I took field measurements for all objectives both through the visual eyepieces, and the photo eyepiece.
With the photo eyepiece measurements known, calculating the object size from measurements taken from photos with a ruler on the monitor of the apparent field and the object of interest is a simple proportion calculation
Even though it is simple, it took more time than it should, and could be a bit confusing at times, I needed a tool.
So the Microscope Object Size Calculator was born.

Then in the gray area under Results, enter the objective sizes on your scope, and next to that, the directly measured (or known) field size in microns for each objective.
Now save the file, and you are ready to use it.
In the yellow boxes you enter the measurements relating to the object you are interested in. First is the apparent field width. Use a ruler to measure the field as it appears on your monitor. Enter that number. Next is to measure the object of interest, and enter that number next to "Object Measurement"
The unit of measurement is not important, just that both measurements are taken in the same unit, so both metric, both imperial, etc
Once both are entered, the size of the object can be found in the Results section across from the objective size used to capture the image.
