"An Introduction to the Microscopical Study of Diatoms"

#1 Post by billbillt » Sat May 21, 2016 3:36 pm

Here is a link to a somewhat lengthy, highly intense, "tour de force" manuscript on diatoms... I don't think there is a more complete volume on the subject furnished anywhere else.. You can get lost for days here..

Hey Bill,

I have come across that previously, and have downloaded and read parts.

What an undertaking! People like him who are so dedicated to a discipline are truly rare.

Another example of that dedication is Robert Burnham's Burnham's Celestial Handbook. It is a wonderful guide to the night sky in three volumes, written by one man.

Thanks for reminding me about this, I think I will spend some time reading about Diatoms tonight.

Rod

Hi Rod,

I don't think there would be anything left to read about diatoms when a person finishes this.. A masterpiece..

Another masterpiece is Treatise on the Diatomaceae by H. F. Van Heurck. This is my bible when it comes to Diatoms. Also another fantastic book with a large informative section on Diatoms is; The Microscope and its Revelations by W. B. Carpenter, although written in 1891 it still holds firm the information concerning Diatoms.
Thank you
Best regards
exmarine :x

uses Watson 'Service' 1950 compound.
