Hello everyone,

I have for sale a Wild M11 microscope. Overall condition: very good.
All focus racks move smoothly and are free of dry, thick damping grease. Stage driver moves smoothly

Included in the sale is a:

Set of Objectives:

-2x: Wild 4x/0.10 achromat
-Wild 10x/0.25 Phase Contrast achromat
-Wild 10x/0.40 Phase Contrast Fluotar
-Wild 40x/0.65 Phase Contrast achromat
-Generic, but apparently functional 100x/1.25 Phase Contrast achromat.

-Centre-able phase condenser: 1-4 Ph + Bright-field with swing out filter holder.

-Binocular headpiece with two WILD 10x eyepieces

-Light source + LED flashlight fitted for chargeable anywhere-use microscopy.

-Original lamp housing, with cord. Unfortunately no transformer.

Notes: 40x Objective threads can be stiff. I would think solvable with a hard metal tool in the threads. The fluotar objective 10x, to me, appears to have some delamination, but still produces a fine image in use. The other phase 10x does not have this flaw.

Probably a suitable setup for the travelling microscopist, due to its size, and rechargeable non-wired light source.

Hi, As a retiree in the Pacific Northwest with the Olympic National Forest in my backyard, the last few years I have taken an interest in mushrooms. I began by photographing them, they are all so unique. My husband and I enjoyed identifying them. As our list of identified species grew, we found what was left were those little brown mushrooms that all looked the some to the naked eye. I found I needed to see the spores and other structures. Hence, the need for a microscope.

Currently, I'm using my father-in-law's microscope that he used in med school in the 1940s. It's a monocular with a mirror that reflects the light. It does have a 100x immersion objective for viewing the spores. I can distinguish shape, but the view isn't clear enough for other features.

I just watched a video on phase contrast and it sounded interesting, but I have much more to learn. My hope is to more accurately ID fungi that I photograph and collect. Currently, I work with the Burke Herbarium at UW to supply photos and dried samples. I'm, also, a member of the Kitsap Mycological Society, South Sound Mycological Society and FunDiS (Fungal Diversity Survey).

Would this microscope give me a clear detailed view of fungi spores? Would it adjust for a narrower pupillary distance?

Congratulations on your new interest, you'll have great fun with it, fungi is incredibly fascinating.

I played with the 10x, 40x, and 100x phase objectives today on a prepared slide of Rhizopus zygospores. I was able to enjoy a nice negative phase contrast on the 10x, and positive phase contrast on the 40x and 100x phase objectives. I'm not an expert with mycology by any means, but I enjoyed a clear view of the spores using phase contrast on the 100x objective, and I believe it may suit your purposes. The pupillary distance goes from 55mm to 75mm, if you are comfortable viewing within this range on your oculars, it should be okay, if you are more narrow than this, it may not.
