Wanted - Zeiss intermediate rings - and/or dic sliders for standard
Wanted - Zeiss intermediate rings - and/or dic sliders for standard
Having finally managed to a dic condenser (465273) with 0.63 top lens, I'm on the look out to complete the setup, but it's looking hard to find the intermediate slider rings. If anyone has any spare and willing to sell, let me know. Also on the lookout for individual objective sliders that will work with X63 1.4 and x40 0.95 (assuming the condenser prism II works with these). I also have a water immersion X40 0.75 so a slider for this is also welcome. Also - x25 slider welcome (neofluar or planapo).
Many thanks!
Many thanks!

Just upping this in case it gets lost and someone just happens to be able to help out.

There isn't one. Cylinder drops into nosepiece threaded hole and is held in position by threaded lens holder that screws into cylinder from the bottom. See arrow.
This is the old type, I suppose we should present a selection of the available slide holders.
Will remove one tomorrow and show its constituent parts.

Thanks for the information.
Please do let me know if anyone knows who might have any spacers or DIC sliders they are prepared to sell?

Will keep an eye out and let you know if I see any.
Here is an image of the 3 main parts of the older style one.
First one screws into the nosepiece thread and creates a hollow smooth sided cylinder. Second one drops in on top and is held in place by the third one (that has the lens) that screws into it from underneath.

Re: Wanted - Zeiss intermediate rings - and/or dic sliders for standard
Thanks. I have a 63x 1.4 objective, but my condenser is has the 0.63 top lens with prisms I and II. Will this combination work do you know? My apologies, DIC is entirely new to me since I've never been in a position to use it.

Re: Wanted - Zeiss intermediate rings - and/or dic sliders for standard
I would assume (given the chart posted previously) that it will provide DIC, but not at 1.4.
The possibilities are that it provides an NA of 0.63 (as provided by the condenser) or that it combines the Nominal Aperture of the objective and the condenser 1.4 + 0.63 = 1
Note: You can always pick up a top condenser lens of 1.4 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zeiss-Konden ... SwVztf37cs
Do note that I have seen them much cheaper, so do not jump in just yet!

Re: Wanted - Zeiss intermediate rings - and/or dic sliders for standard
I have used the 0,63nA condensor with the 63/1.4 Objective, so it would well for the DIC. But as 75RR explained you waste a lot of the possible resulution of the objective.
So for such high numeric objectives better to use the condensor with 1.4NA Frontlense, like this one:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/Zeiss-microscop ... 3632862217
Alternate is that you try to replace the 0,63nA Frontlesne with the (rare) 0,9nA Frontlense. It should still works adequately to generate a DIC effect. (need to check and reconfirm). The 1,4nA Frontlense on the 0,63 Kondensor/Prisms II does not generate DIC effect anymore.

Re: Wanted - Zeiss intermediate rings - and/or dic sliders for standard
Thanks ImperatorRex and 75RR.
I value your experienced observations. I will stick with my condenser with 0.63 top lens - I can put up with the reduced numerical aperture of the 63X objective, and believe that one slider can be made to work with other objectives too.
I just need to source a spacer with slider facility - that seems to be the hardest part to find.
