A set was just posted for sale in the Olympus microscope users group on Facebook, $3000. Including a rotating stage.

Pretty sure the eight months since the original post counts as "delayed gratification."

My recollection, possibly wrong, is that the scratched condenser lens can be replaced with one of the same spec from a regular or phase condenser.

Decent set, but then I have to pay import fees and still change out the lense. I’ve seen nicer sets sell in the past so I can wait. I might make him an offer to see if he accepts.

Hmm I paid import fees on a Japanese objective once. I guess I overpaid

I've bought a lot of microscope stuff from Japan and Europe, and just got some filters from Australia yesterday. The only time I've paid duty was on a new microscope camera from China almost 10 years ago. So, unless it was new, you should not have been charged.
