Those are beautiful scopes, Seb28. And I remember you posted excellent fungi DIC and fluorescence photos before.

I would have jumped on this if I have the chance to start again. But someone else should. The PZO DIC rig is quite rare and may work with other brands of objectives (as we can see here, Zeiss and Nikon DINs).

Seb28, you may want to elaborate a bit on the PZO:

That is a MPI-5 head, correct? Does the trinocular head offer simultaneous viewing for both visual eyepieces AND photo tube?

Would you be willing the separate the package into phase kit, objectives and the DIC stand?

What is the maximum NA of that PZO DIC condenser?

Very nice microscope, the PZO Biolar. I almost bought one direct from the factory around 1990. They were ridiculously inexpensive. I still have the original 93 page manual for it. They use the term Polarizing Interference Microscope in preference to DIC. Perhaps there were patents or something. They never reference Nomarski, either. The head is an either or prism. Objectives 160mm D.I.N.

This is a MPI2 head. The trinocular head gives simultaneous view 30% eyepieces and 70% camera port.
The maximum NA of the condenser is 1.3.
Im selling this microscope fore my friend and he don't wan't to separate the set.

I did not know MPI2 head can produce DIC with Nikon or Zeiss objectives.

The Zeiss is actually a Universal (3rd generation). The Photomicroscopes (I, II and III) have internal 35mm cameras. A big round film canister would go in the middle of the arm. For each generation of the Zeiss Photomicroscope (I, II and III) with built in camera, they have a Universal from the same era without the camera. The large plastic focus knobs of the generation 3 replaced the all metal focus knobs of the generation 1 and 2. This Universal does have a very nice adjustable camera port. Also since this has the old style DIC condenser, to turn this into a complete DIC microscope all that is needed is the single beam DIC slide to fit into the Optovar.

I can understand the philosophy of not breaking up the DIC set, that said; if the DIC set was ever offered (head/cond/obj) -less base/stand/ill or even individual parts * please feel welcome to offer an itemised price via PM at any stage. -at your friends discretion.

Although... I can see a large benefit in getting a complete system which functions as intended.

Hmmm I wonder how many posts do I need to make before I can PM people directly??
