Downsizing... Liquidating
Downsizing... Liquidating
Before I become the grandpa whose grandkids are wondering about what to do with a lot of microscopes I am going to begin the arduous process of downsizing. Although it may be a bit premature, as I have no photos or inventory list, I do have some interesting items.
Here's the question... Would you rather see a list of parts and components or a list of complete microscopes?

BOTH - we must have both my friend - I'd love to look through your lists - any Leitz objectives of 170mm TL must surely be destined for the UK!
Don't overdo the downsizing my friend - you don't want to throw out any babies with the bath-water as they say....
Interested to see what you have Lorez.

Lorez, you might also want to consider donating some to a local High School or other organization that would like to have good microscopes for education purposes.
Re: Downsizing... Liquidating
I am currently sponsoring a "microscopes in the library" program in a couple of local libraries. If you would like to commit to participating in something similar you can send me a pm and I'll send you a grant application. This is a matching grant so there is definitely a need for some serious consideration. A couple of folks on this group are familiar with what I am doing.
Over the last several years I've probably donated 100 microscopes to locations across the globe. There are all sorts of groups who will help in such endeavors. Last month I had a "microscope for the grand kid" program and found eleven grandpas who were willing to get involved. The grand kids ranged in ages from eight years to nineteen.
The microscopes I have now are all higher level scopes; BH2, LaboPhot, AO10, AO410, Zeiss, and a few others. Some can be easily readied for use and others will demand a bit of tender loving attention... some will have to go to the parts bin. Sadly, for this group, most are only binocular models.
Whatever the case, it's going to be a big job.

By make, like anything for a certain Nikon! I know how you feel, my friend, I am trying to do a
will. You should have seen the lawyers face when he saw the 3 scopes, and a banjo worth
more than the scopes! Do you have any telescopic items?

Re: Downsizing... Liquidating
I have all sorts of current Nikon gear that would work on your scope. I have no telescopes, but for your needs I would think a good spotting scope would be the answer. The problem is your pitiful $200 budget. All the good stuff is a bit more and a good spotting scope would be right at home with the rest of your quality inventory.

Hi Lorez,
Any progress with the inventory?
Kind regards,

Re: Downsizing... Liquidating
This business of liquidating is more daunting than I'd hoped for. Since I was so bold to advertise I've had little time to actually work on it... in fact, and I hate to admit this, I've acquired a couple more scopes.

Hi Lorez,
Oh dear, it's a very hard habit to break; you might be in need of medication!

David, I have tried some of Lorez’s medications, and they are ‘top shelf.’
