Found: lens and attachment from high quality microscope

Hello! First, I must apologize for not knowing your lingo. I have no idea what this is from, other than it came from a government laboratory. There were 2 or three microscopes that were sold (auction) the day I picked this up, all selling for more than $1,000. Can yall give me any idea on how to identify this?
