Black Zeiss WL

Note: Only downside to a Black WL is the colour coordination, as modern illumination housings and the heads (both binocular and trinocular) are white.

Those look like Standards 14 or 16 but need a side view of each to confirm.
They have a stenciled logo which means they were among the last standards to be made.
The riser plates + 100w halogen illumination are cool!
If they are cheap then perhaps you can get the WL frame as well and then just swap the parts over.
P.S. If they are going very cheap let me know, I could do with a 100w halogen illuminator.

Yes, the 100W lamphouse is excellent and has been used for halogen as well as for high pressure Hg and Xe lamps. Features an adjustable mirror .

If you wanted to keep to the historic look and not the mix-matched look, there are of course black binocular and trinocular heads for the WL as well as the 'grey' 100W lamp houses which were also used on the first 'grey' Photomicroscopes and Universals.
This one has the black trinocular head and the grey illuminaiton tube.

Yep. The 100W lamp house could always be painted black, but since it's not OEM I opted to leave mine as is. I would also like an OEM riser base.

About painting the HBO lamphouse: please note that it gets pretty hot in use.

If really necessary, there is always that Rust-Oleum high heat (resistant up to 1200F) black paint that you can find in (US) Home Depot cheaply. That paint is designed to be used on barbeque stoves and kitchen ovens.

The Black WL is a thing of beauty, and yes, I would definitely paint the HAL black to match. As said, there are plenty of high temp paints available.

OMG - LOL (Well, except maybe it isn't really funny what happened to that poor old Zeiss!)
No, not gonna paint my lamp house black, just not gonna do it. It just so happens I had it detached and in my hands just this afternoon, and looked it over with painting it black in mind because of this thread. I gave it some thought, then decided no, not gonna do it.
Incidentally, I wonder if it's normal for these lamp houses to eat the roots of the bulbs? Seems like I get light fluctuations after some hours on a bulb, as if faulty contacts, and so must periodically remove the bulb, which ends up reminding me of extracting a wisdom tooth, and sand/file the contacts smooth and free of what looks like corrosion before reinstalling. Usually it's just one of the contacts, actually. Which is why I was handling the lamp house today. What's going on here??

Man, that scope is beautiful!! KurtM, if you see this, could you post some pics you’ve taken with your WL? I’m so curious to see what that setup can do. <3

Here are a few. Nothing special about 'em, just what was quick to come up with. Most of my imaging through the WL use the 63x/1.4 planapo, as I believe all of these are.

Wow, thank you KurtM. Those are first rate! Some of the ones in your Flickr album are spectacular. It's great to see such excellent clear images being produced with equipment of that age by someone who knows how to use it. Impressive! I appreciate the info!

Thanks, I appreciate that! I'm almost sorry to say I've moved on to my "dream stand", an Olympus BHS BH-2 with DIC and full complement of Splanapo objectives. It's even nicer to peer through than the lovely old Zeiss, but will never be as much fun to look AT. But I did graft that splendid Zeiss rotating stage onto the Olympus, so it does look a little better now (and performs a LOT better).
