#1 Post by gastrotrichman » Fri Apr 05, 2019 9:07 pm

Can anyone provide a manufacturer or part number for the lamp of a Wild M11 microscope? Threaded base, 120 volts, 20 watts. Thanks.

Sorry, I can't find a number other than Wild's own: 166 350
http://www.science-info.net/docs/wild/m11-catalog.pdf
... see page 13 of the catalogue.

The few illustrations I have seen of the 'Mains/Line illuminator suggest that it may be an opal version [see update below] of the common 'pygmy' shaped bulb.
... Is that correct ?

.
P.S. Have a look at my post on a previous topic, here:
viewtopic.php?p=58807#p58807
I do have the Koehler illuminator for my M11, but find the little LED lamp quite adequate for general use.
.
UPDATE

I have found an illustration, in one version of the Wild M11 instructions:
Wild_M.jpg
Wild_M.jpg (305.55 KiB) Viewed 3604 times
It is now evident that the bulb is not 'opal'
It appears to be the once-ubiquitous type that was used in various domestic fittings and appliances.
... Sourcing a similar replacement should be a simple matter.
Too many 'projects'

Thanks Michael G. I ordered a bulb that looks like it should fit. I am fixing up an M11 I've had sitting for years for a friend's wife, who is interested in tardigrades and other small things. Thanks also for the manual, which I didn't have and which she will probably like to have. I'll try to remember to post the bulb information if it works out.

15 watt, T8 PYGMY, European base from 1000 Bulbs in Texas (their number IN-005T8514) fits the housing and lights. I think the original bulb (which I don't have) was 20 watts.
