Looking for: Versatile Mic, PLAN Objectives, Camera (couple $100s)

Have a problem finding shops that sell specific materials? Ask here. Are you looking for microscope parts? Do you have anything to offer for sale? Note: this is not a section for external companies to advertise their products.

Looking for: Versatile Mic, PLAN Objectives, Camera (couple $100s)

#1 Post by wazlot » Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:50 pm

I am looking for a good quality setup to see:
  • Mainly -- microorganisms in the pond.
    Bonus -- cells.
    Maybe... bacteria.
I am located in Chicago, IL. Willing to drive once I get my scooter fixed in a week or so. Otherwise shipping.

Once either poster has enough posts to send forum messages, let me know if you want a copy of the guide to microscope brands and models we use for parents and kids in our Micronaut program. It covers the pros and cons of around 50 brands and something like 200 models. It is in PDF format and can be emailed.

Robert Berdan, who posts here, also provided a link to help hobbyists evaluate microscopes.

Hi Bill,

I just email a PDF to anyone who wants a copy.

Let me know if you want one. It's a work in progress, so I'd appreciate any feedback you might have on it. Pete

I'm not wanting to interfere with your post to the poster but I'm curious about the c mount beamsplitter. What does that entail? I haven't come across one of those for a series 400 or perhaps I know it by another name? Any chance of posting a picture of it?

I am happy to be corrected, but; I think a lack of punctuation might have caused some ambiguity.

it is a 50/50 dual view beamsplitter that has the C mount extention placed where the tube for second viewing body would be placed. If I remember correctly it has a 1.0x mag factor. There was another version that had a 0.75x mag factor, but I have not seen that for many years. Low volt power supply also activated the movable pointer.
