Getting a new microscope

#1 Post by cd13 » Wed May 06, 2020 6:32 pm

Hi guys,
I want microscope but my budget is not very high (+/- US$300). Looking at that price range, looks like my options are AmScope or Swift.
What brand and model you guys would recommend?
I have been using a AmScope B380B from a friend.

Thanks in advance

I dunno, I have a pretty convincing cup of tea leaves over here that are saying something about a Nikon Alphaphot.

I’m really new to the microscope world so buying used I dont think it’s a good idea for me right now. I have decided to go with the Amscope T340B.
Thanks for your input!!

You can sometimes get one used from a reputable dealer in refurbished scopes for a pretty decent price, which will probably be even safer than buying new from a company like Amscope. But no worries, you'll likely enjoy your scope quite a bit regardless of your choice.

Well if you really want to defy arcane wisdom for that new microscope smell...

Anyway, your scope looks like it has a good feature set. I don't know much about new microscopes but it appears that swift caters more to the institutional set than the hobbyist. Looking forward to what you can do with your instrument!

The AmScope is all I've ever owned. I like them but I've not tried any other brand.
