Genuine Zeiss stuff, tends to sit, highly priced.
The bane of name recognition.
Still wondering what Zeiss made in Europe for the 100w illuminator.

I know that both they and Leitz, used local mfg. for some power supplies in the U.S. and Canada. It is possible that the same practice was used for parts of Europe. Depending on where you are going, the power supply might be slightly different.

According to David Walker who has a Photomicroscope III and kindly replied to my query, the Photomicroscope has a massive contraption that sits under his worktable - the controls are actually on the microscope.
The Ultraphot's power supply (which has the controls on it) came with its own table.
He thinks the Universal might have had a smaller power supply similar to what Zeiss had made in America.

All Zeiss Photomicroscopes and Ultraphots have their own power supply and camera controllers combined, so that is why they are pretty large and the controls are accessible on the microscope. The Universals do not have internal cameras to control, so they use the same power supplies for the different lamps used which is the same as the Standards.

I assume, given the derth of small 220v 100w power supplies, that most of the standards that were sold in Europe were either 30w or internal 15w models, with the preponderance of 60w and 100w illuminators used on the Photomicroscope, Ultraphot and Universal stands.

Interesting presentation, strange that it should add the output together.
Actually found one! Scroll down to see photo of the power supply specs

Wow!!! Just what the doctor ordered. Thanks Charles, I was looking for them in Europe ebay :)
Will ask seller if he is willing to ship to Spain, if not I will then need a volunteer to ship it onward.
A volunteer would also be useful as it can then be tested - writing seller now ...

Since these go up to 15V, you need to be careful you don't overpower your 12V systems by cranking them up to 15V which will decrease the life of your bulb. Usually 10-11V is plenty.
Agree, the one I have goes to 12v and I never go above 10v.

Just looked at the shipping costs based on seller details:
Priority Mail International® Medium Flat Rate Box would be $66.50, if we add the sale price and the local shipping cost $18 + $17.40 the total at: $102 is a little high. Sigh :(
Am still tempted but I suppose I will have to look in Europe.
The good news is that I now have proof of its existence and a catalogue number: 39-25-33
So I think in time I will find an affordable one. Thanks to all :)
